Revised forecast

The revised Valley City forecast shows the Sheyenne River staying below 14 feet for the next 7 days.  Cool weather are attributing to a lower forecast.  As always, continue to watch campus information and weather sites for updates.

Flood update 3/20/10

River levels are changing again.  The Sheyenne River in Valley City is at 13.85 feet and rising.  Forecasts have changed for Valley City, but are still not expecting to reach flood stage.  Please continue to check the NWS information at http://tinyurl.com/VCflood10.

Viking Drive bridge

City crews added a large pump by the Viking Drive bridge.  The pump reduces traffic to one lane in that area. Please use caution in that area.

River level

The Sheyenne River has crested at 12.7 feet today.  The National Weather Service expects the river will remain at 12.7 feet for several days.  Please continue to monitor information online at www.weather.gov/fgf

Water on I-94

A portion of Interstate 94 in southeast North Dakota is covered by water from overland flooding.

The Highway Patrol is urging motorists to slow down on that stretch of the highway.

The patrol says about four inches of water is covering both the eastbound and westbound lanes near the Oriska rest stop, between Valley City and Fargo.

2010 Flood

The 2010 Flood Season is underway in Valley City and surrounding areas. Current forecast shows the Sheyenne River reaching over 17 feet by Thursday night (3/18/10). Campus is coordinating flood efforts with city officials. More information will be available through VCSU emails and local media.
